ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Two years after signing with his hometown New York Giants, Bronx native Frankie Frisch found quick success in the big leagues, leading the National League with 49 steals in 1921 and playing a key role in helping the Giants claim their first World Series title since 1905.

Nicknamed "The Fordham Flash" for his success on the track at Fordham Prep and Fordham University, Frisch and manager John McGraw's Giants won four consecutive NL pennants between 1921 and 1924 before he and right-hander Jimmy Ring were moved to the St. Louis Cardinals in a blockbuster deal that sent fellow future Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby to New York on Dec. 20, 1926.

Frisch would thrive in St. Louis. He would take home 1931 NL Most Valuable Player honors and four NL pennants, leading the "Gashouse Gang" Cardinals to a World Series victory in 1934 as a player-manager.

In Frisch's first season in St. Louis in 1927, he managed to tally up a major league record for assists by any player at any position in any season in big league history with 641. Known for his glovework at the at the keystone, Frisch used this Spalding model glove that 1927 record-setting season.

Nearly a century later, you can help the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum conserve this artifact from "The Fordham Flash," one of baseball's great second basemen. Make your gift today to preserve this important piece of baseball history for generations to come.
