DAVE BANCROFT GLOVE
You can honor one of baseball’s greatest by helping fund the work that will preserve this symbol of excellence for today’s generation and the next.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT
With steady hands and fast feet, Dave Bancroft would amass 4,673 putouts while starting 1,877 of 1,892 career games. This fielding skill and longevity in the middle infield would lead Bancroft to Cooperstown as one of baseball's greatest shortstops.
Bancroft spent his first eight seasons in the major leagues with the Philadelphia, helping the Phillies reach the 1915 World Series in his rookie year. After a contract dispute during the 1920 season, he was traded to the New York Giants, where he would find further success on both sides of the ball and help push the Giants to two World Series crowns.
Though he is largely defined by his work in the infield, Bancroft was a consistent hitter in his career, tallying a .311 batting average through his first three seasons in New York and five total seasons batting higher than .300.
Defensively, Bancroft led all NL shortstops in putouts four times, assists three times and fielding percentage twice. He also led all of baseball in games played five times, and finished his career with 1,873 games played at short. Bancroft was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1971.
Bancroft used this glove, now part of the Hall of Fame's collection, to become magnet at shortstop during his 16-year career. With your support, you can help conserve this artifact for future generations of fans. Please consider making a donation today to help preserve this important piece of baseball history.
