ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Tom Seaver burst onto the scene in 1967, earning National League Rookie of the Year honors and instantly transforming the New York Mets. Soon thereafter, he earned the nickname “The Franchise” when he famously led the “Miracle Mets” to their first World Series championship in 1969.
Across his legendary 20-year career with the Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, and Boston Red Sox, Seaver modeled consistency and a relentless focus on his craft. A three-time Cy Young Award winner and 12-time All-Star, Seaver was one of the game’s marquee performers and retired with a 311-205 record, a 2.86 ERA and 3,640 strikeouts. “Tom Terrific” received baseball’s highest honor in 1992, when writers elected him to the Baseball Hall of Fame with a then record 98.8% of the vote.
In 2026, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will celebrate Tom Seaver’s legacy with a new display featuring highlights of his storied career. This exhibition is made possible by the incredible generosity of Tom and Nancy Seaver, who donated Our Museum in Action Tom’s personal collection, containing hundreds of items, to the Museum.
